In Chinese tradition there are 5 seasons, Spring, Summer, Late summer, Fall, and Winter. Springtime has awakened and renewed our body and minds, and has now prepared us to receive the bounty of Summer joy and light.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) explains that Summer is the season associated with the heart. The functions of the heart are to govern the blood, control the blood vessels, manage perspiration, and house the Shen (mind). When the heart is in balance we experience joy, our sleep is sound our memory is sharp, and our complexion is bright.
